Ada County voters extend the vehicle registration fee through 2046
The Daily Boise team
If you register a car in Ada County, your fee isn't changing. Voters approved extending the local vehicle registration fee through 2046 with no increase, and unofficial results show 81.8% in favor. Without the vote, the fee would have expired in 2028.
The fee brings in about $14 million a year, and KTVB reports the money is secured for local infrastructure projects. ACHD Commission President Miranda Gold said it helps pay for road and bridge repairs, traffic projects, safe routes to school, sidewalks and neighborhood transportation improvements.
- Rates: no increase from current fees
- First approved: 1990, renewed in 2008
- Raises: about $14 million a year
- Old sunset date: 2028
