COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Toys for Tots Idaho seeks donations to help reach 40,000 children this Christmas and meet the need for gifts for teens aged 11 to 15. Donations can be made online through the organization’s wish list after community drop-offs have been filled.  KBOI
  • Fly High Boise invites families to visit its trampoline park at 7672 W. Fairview Avenue during the holiday break — kids can bounce on wall-to-wall trampolines and explore features like the wipe-out course, drop zones, and a kids’ court for extra fun.  KBOI

CULTURE NEWS

  • Boise Music Festival will feature global DJ Marshmello and top acts on Saturday, June 27, 2026 in Boise as the event offers live music, carnival rides & a market. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, Dec. 18.  KIDO

FINANCE NEWS

  • More than 11,000 Idahoans won prizes in the Dec. 13 Powerball drawing, though no ticket won the $1.1 billion jackpot — set for the Dec. 15 drawing while two tickets outside Idaho won $2 million.  KIDO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador warns that Christmas scams and tax-season schemes are widespread this season, and citizens are urged to use official charity websites (avoid links or calls from unfamiliar numbers) to protect their personal information.  KIDO
  • The U.S. Navy accepted delivery of the future USS Idaho, a Virginia-class nuclear-powered submarine built in Connecticut, on Monday, Dec. 15 — the final step before its planned commissioning in spring. Crew testing and training will follow in the coming months.  KBOI
  • The Treasure Valley DUI Task Force is preparing to ramp up operations this holiday season—offering free Lyft vouchers to encourage sober driving and improve road safety across the region.  Idaho Press

  • Today, the city unveiled Denton Apartments — a new project offering 191 housing units in a central courtyard, marking the latest step to increase local affordable housing.  Idaho Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kirby Moore — brother of Boise icon Kellen Moore — was named head coach of Washington State and will coach against Boise State when they join the Pac-12 this fall.  KIDO
  • Boise State lost to Washington (a power team) on ABC Saturday night, leaving fans and critics debating the team’s ability to compete with top schools. The loss followed consecutive tough games and raised questions about Group of 5 teams’ playoff chances.  KIDO
  • The Boise Hawks will start their 2026 season at Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, May 19 when they host the Ogden Raptors and finish with a regular-season finale against the Idaho Falls Chukars on Sunday, Sept. 6 — game times are set at 7:05 p.m. except Sundays at 1:05 p.m.  KBOI
