- ➤ Roots Zero Waste Market, a refill-style grocery that opened in a repurposed hookah bar in 2019, is closing permanently on Dec. 16. The store will continue stocking fresh produce and staples until its final day to help reduce local plastic waste. KIDO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The TSA will impose a $45 fee on travelers lacking a REAL ID—compliant identification, including Boise residents without the state’s Star Card, starting Feb. 1, 2026. Passengers may face delays and extra screening if they do not use acceptable documentation. KBOI
- ➤ Boise welcomes new Parks and Recreation Director Sara Arkle as she succeeds longtime director Doug Holloway. Arkle said a November levy will allow the department to buy more parks and build new trail and neighborhood connections to keep the city's green spaces welcoming. KBOI
- ➤ The Idaho Transportation Department announced 12 winners from its Name a Snowplow contest — including entries like Sleetwoodmac and Fast and Flurryous — whose names will appear on plows statewide; ITD will arrange school visits to promote safe winter driving. Local News 8
