COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Boise Parks and Recreation announced a seasonal dog off-leash program that will let dogs run free at Ann Morrison Park and the Optimist Youth Sports Complex starting November 1, and at Simplot Sports Complex starting November 16 until February 28. All park areas will be open from sunrise to sunset — excluding paths, parking lots, roads, and playgrounds to ensure safety and proper use.  KBOI
  • Zoo Boise will offer $3 Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every week starting in November until the end of February—plus $3 Mondays from December 22 to December 21 with discounted food items, giving families an affordable way to see the animals.  KIDO
  • City officials report that on Halloween night at least 10,000 trick-or-treaters will gather on Harrison Boulevard and the road will be closed from Hill Rd. to Resseguie St. from 3—11 p.m. They advise families to use crosswalks, flashlights, and to trick-or-treat in groups for safety.  KBOI
  • On Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Boise Farmers Market will distribute $2,000 to SNAP recipients at the Boise Senior Center—those showing their SNAP/EBT card will receive $20 for eligible items and another $20 for local fruits and vegetables. The program, organized with Treasure Valley Food Coalition and St. Alphonsus Foundation, builds on efforts that have already provided over $25,000 in benefits this year.  KBOI

  • Idaho law makes it illegal to TP someone's house on Halloween—homeowners may press charges if they prove who did it.  KIDO

CULTURE NEWS

  • Adam Sandler performed a sold-out comedy show Monday night in Nampa where he thanked local fans for their support and celebrated local charm (including great potatoes). He noted that many stars enjoy Idaho and he hopes to return soon.  KIDO
  • The Wintry Market will take place downtown Boise at the Grove Plaza on November 21 from 4-9 p.m. and November 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., bringing together over 100 artists displaying handmade crafts, food, and drinks. Admission is $10 on November 21 and $5 on November 22, with free entry for children 12 and under.  KIDO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Boise State University will host its annual tree lighting event on Nov. 19 from 4-6 p.m. in the Quad. The event will mark the start of the holiday season — with attendees encouraged to support the Campus Food Pantry by donating essential food items.  KBOI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial received upgrades to improve accessibility and safety such as widened pathways, new signage, and enhanced security features—cameras and lighting. City leaders and project partners dedicated the improvements on Oct. 29 at 10 a.m.—aiming to better serve visitors along the Boise River Greenbelt.  KBOI

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Today, Wissel Farms in Nampa offers a free hayride and pumpkin picking at its top pumpkin patch from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.—the family-run farm has welcomed locals since 1911 without an admission fee.  KIDO
