COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Idaho families may soon face delays receiving SNAP benefits while St. Vincent de Paul Southwest Idaho readies food pantries at locations including Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, and Mountain Home—executive director Ralph May said the organization is prepared to help if the need grows.  KBOI
  • Boise’s Harrison Boulevard will close to vehicles on October 31 when the Ada County Highway District sets up road closures at 3 p.m. and shuts the street from Hill Road to Hays Street from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.—families are advised to arrive early as parking on nearby side streets fills up quickly.  KIDO

  • Tamales Nelly announced it will close at the end of 2025 after 10 years serving the community—final holiday tamale orders are available as the family shifts focus to health concerns.  KIDO

CULTURE NEWS

  • A recent ranking names Boise as one of the top cities for Halloween in America—with many local events planned for the spooky season. Residents will enjoy trick-or-treating, safety tips and diverse community activities as the holiday nears.  KIDO
  • A local duo known as the Bob duo in Boise is drawing eyes with their creative Halloween costumes. They appeared at neighborhood events to share festive spirit (showing a unique style that stands out).  Idaho Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Early Tuesday, Nampa School District hosted Coffee and Conversations—an informational meeting—to discuss the 2025 Replacement Supplemental Levy one week before Nov. 4. The superintendent said the district had extensive funding needs that fueled the levy talk.  Idaho Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Boise residents will vote on a new Clean Water and Open Space Levy — which will fund conservation projects — that seeks to secure funding for preservation initiatives this year.  Idaho Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents hosting Halloween note that handing out beers to adults is legal if minors are not served—neighbors are urged to use caution when drinking and decide wisely about driving.  KIDO
  • Evelyn McCullough was unanimously appointed by the West Ada School Board to fill the Zone 2 vacancy—she will serve until Dec. 31, 2027, taking the place of Trustee Lucas Baclayon who resigned on Sept. 8.  KBOI

  • Yelp has ranked Boise’s 10 best breakfast spots, noting long weekend wait times at popular downtown brunch locations and options for gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian diners.
