  • The Idaho Humane Society will host its 33rd annual See Spot Walk this Saturday, October 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.—a fundraiser to support local animals—and dog owners must register ahead of time.  KIDO

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Westside Drive In will remove its popular Prime Rib Dinner from the menu due to rising costs in the economy—hundreds of customers shared comments online and many plan to visit this weekend for a last taste of the special.  KIDO
  • Kia America announced a recall of nearly 40,000 vehicles due to an HVAC error that could cause a fire risk—Idaho drivers of affected models should check with their local dealerships for repairs.  KIDO

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Transparent Idaho released updated 2025 salary data effective October 1 showing Idaho Supreme Court justices earning $186,508 and Governor Little earning $151,400—while the top 10 highest paid work at major universities with salaries funded by non-state sources.  KIDO
  • On Tuesday, a state labor economist said that despite constrained budgets, economic numbers remained strong—Idaho made sizable gains in reducing poverty.  Idaho Press

FINANCE NEWS

  • AARP and the Idaho Department of Finance met today to examine how advances in financial technology ease transactions yet also foster cybercrime—officials said plans to update security measures are underway to better protect consumers.  Idaho Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Meridian and the Meridian Fire Department are hosting open house events at local fire stations to discuss a proposed public safety levy for the Nov. 4th ballot that would keep 13 firefighter positions, raise police wages, and fund a prosecution unit. One event is held today at Station 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.—additional events run on Oct. 6 at the Public Safety Training Center, Oct. 8 at Station 6, and Oct. 9 at Station 7.  KBOI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Boise State will host a free watch party on their massive stadium screen—THE BLUE—for fans to watch the Notre Dame game, offering an affordable option for those unable to buy one of the limited 5,000 tickets. The Broncos will travel to South Bend for the matchup, marking one of the biggest weeks of the season.  KIDO
