BUSINESS NEWS

  • Beginning October 14, 2025, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10, leaving Idaho families, schools, and small businesses vulnerable to hackers as unpatched security holes threaten personal and business data—residents and businesses are urged to upgrade to Windows 11 or use Extended Security Updates.  KIDO

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Boise Chordsmen hosted their annual Barbershop Youth Festival at Morrison Center on Monday and are continuing it today with almost 500 high school students from local schools and as far away as Burley—students learn singing from the Argonauts and coach Clay Hine.  KBOI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices stayed steady in the Treasure Valley today, but Eastern Idaho and the Panhandle saw increases with Idaho Falls and Pocatello up six cents per gallon, Twin Falls and Coeur D’Alene up three cents, and Franklin rising eight cents. AAA said the state average is 3.52 dollars per gallon & experts watch for a resumed pipeline supply that may soon steady prices.  KBOI
  • USDA data shows that Idaho farmers achieved record agricultural production in 2024, but rising expenses caused net farm income to drop by 30% over the past two years. Farmers reported higher costs for feed+fuel and other supplies that are hurting their profits despite the record output.  KBOI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Little signed an executive order on Monday at the Idaho National Laboratory that created the Idaho Advanced Nuclear Energy Task Force, replacing the LINE Commission. The task force—composed of up to 20 members—will advise the governor on nuclear policy and coordinate with industry and federal partners for future projects.  Local News 8
  • Idaho and Taiwan — long-trusted trade partners — will sign a $1.2 billion wheat export agreement tomorrow to support Idaho wheat exports over the next three years. The ceremony will occur at 10:35 a.m. — in the Governor’s Ceremonial Office on the State Capitol's second floor — and will include key state and industry leaders.  KBOI
  • Mayor Lauren McLean appointed Sara Arkle as head of Boise’s Parks and Recreation Department on Monday—she will now manage and improve the city’s park services.  Idaho Press
  • Governor Brad Little signed an executive order Monday at a Western Governors’ Association conference at Idaho National Laboratory to form the Idaho Advanced Nuclear Energy Taskforce— which will explore new nuclear energy solutions for the state.  Idaho Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Veterans in the Treasure Valley will have access to free meals, health screenings, and a cartload of groceries at the Treasure Valley Veterans Stand Down at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa on Friday, Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free transportation and over 50 vendors will offer assistance — departures from the Boise VA Medical Center flagpole — to help veterans and their families connect with essential benefits.  KBOI

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Idaho Pet Aquamation offers a new, eco-friendly option for pet aftercare—its aquamation process uses warm water and alkali to break down pet remains over about 20 hours, leaving fine bone minerals and nutrient-rich water. The company plans to expand its service to more veterinarians and pet owners in the Treasure Valley while keeping prices below the industry standard.  KBOI
  • Grace Blackstead, a Treasure Valley woman, celebrated her 107th birthday by taking a door-off helicopter ride flown by her son Rod—marking a unique way to honor the milestone. Her special ride shows that she has long enjoyed an active, adventurous life.  KBOI
