COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Dream Flights, a nonprofit group in NAMPA, is letting veterans fly in an old World War II-era biplane today. The veterans got signed hats to thank them for their service—an event that made them feel young and happy.  KBOI

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Boise locals welcomed a new board game pub called Chits and Chats that opened this past weekend on Overland Road — the venue offers a large board game library, local drinks, and a food menu for fun nights with family and friends.  KIDO
  • In August, five favorite restaurants in Boise closed—two Asian buffets, a cafe, a pizzeria and a brunch spot. Lucky Palace ended its 17 years in business due to lease issues and Great Wall closed after 45 years as owners retired or faced health challenges.  KIDO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A Boise family filed a tort claim with the IFPC Legal Center after their daughter encountered a biological male in the girls' restroom at Boise High School, claiming the school violated state law by not keeping sex-separated facilities. The Boise School District must respond in 90 days under the Idaho Tort Claims Act—law that requires sex-separated bathrooms.  KBOI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A local man has recorded his voice for Ada County's crosswalk signs to guide pedestrians safely — his recordings will be installed to improve street safety.  Idaho Press

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Local pumpkin patches in the Treasure Valley offer a variety of fall activities—such as pumpkin picking, mazes, and tractor rides—as families enjoy the cooler weather and changing leaves. Residents can explore these spots throughout the season as a way to celebrate fall.  KIDO
  • Cactus Pete’s in Jackpot will host two pop-up buffet events this fall with themed menus featuring Southern dishes and surf and turf options. On September 26, the casino will serve a meal with Cajun shrimp cocktail and Texas-style beef, and on October 3, it will offer prime rib and crab legs—exciting news for local road-trippers.  KIDO

  • Boise State announced that AJ Few—the son of coach Mark Few—has joined the men's basketball staff as Director of Player Personnel and BroncoPRO. He worked at Gonzaga and coached for the Miami Heat in the NBA Summer League and will help build the program as it prepares for a move to the Pac-12.  KIDO
