COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Girl Scouts of Silver Sage announced a new cookie flavor—Exploremores—that is inspired by Rocky Road Ice Cream and has chocolate, marshmallow and toasted almond flavored creme, which will be sold at local booths in the coming months. Classic Thin Mint cookies will still be available as a favorite treat.  KIDO

CRIME NEWS

  • A man in Boise has gone viral on TikTok after posting anonymous videos of himself urinating in public near Boise State—his actions have drawn over 200,000 views and spurred questions about possible legal consequences.  KIDO
  • West Ada School District fired an employee after she posted a video celebrating the murder of conservative speaker Charlie Kirk—shot at a Utah Valley University event—violating district policy.  KBOI

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, Treasure Valley residents can secure 5-Day General Admission passes for Treefort Music Fest 2026 at a special locals-only sale held in person at Record Exchange in downtown Boise from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and at Prefunk Beer Bar in downtown Nampa from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. The festival will take place from March 25-29, and tickets are limited to four per person and must be registered—prices will increase after the first lineup announcement in mid-October.  KBOI
  • At the Idaho Center concert, Train surprised Boise fans when a storm forced some to shelter indoors while others waited in their cars—Train then performed an acoustic set to keep the show alive. This marked one of the last outdoor events of 2025 for the local audience.  KIDO

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Idaho veterans nonprofits and national organizations are partnering to connect former servicemembers to job opportunities—aiming to match military skills with local employers.  Idaho Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, Boise State University Athletics received a $2.2 million donation that will fund the North End Zone and other capital projects—local donors Randy and Lisa Hales announced the gift as part of their long-standing support of the university. The funds will help improve athletic facilities and strengthen campus initiatives.  KBOI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • AccuWeather warns that Idaho's fall leaves may look dull in 2025 because drought and fires stress the trees—reducing the bright colors many expect. The Boise area will see peak color in early October while some northern and eastern regions will peak later in the month.  KIDO
  • The 5th annual Idaho Latino Conservation Week will take place across the Treasure Valley in September—organizing outdoor recreation and education events that teach people of all ages how to protect natural resources.  Idaho Press
  • The National Forest Service now advises hikers to knock down stacked rocks—because built cairns can mislead others and harm tiny wildlife. Officials add that only trained forest rangers should construct rock markers when necessary.  KIDO

  • The Ada County Sheriff's Office launched a new public safety app that lets Treasure Valley residents request extra patrols, sign up for alerts, view arrest logs, and submit tips on mobile devices—while stressing that 9-1-1 must be used only in emergencies.  KIDO

HEALTH NEWS

  • A rabid bat was discovered in Lemhi County and tested positive for rabies—no exposures have been reported in Boise yet. Health officials advise caution around bats and other animals that can carry the virus.  KIDO
