- ➤ On Aug. 15, the Western Idaho Fair held CBS2 Day where donating at least two items to the Boise State Food Pantry earned free admission between noon and 4 p.m. The event also featured STEM Day with interactive activities—continuing a long tradition in the Treasure Valley since 1897. KBOI
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho Department of Correction is searching for Jancee Peirsol, a 32-year-old resident who walked away from East Boise Community Reentry Center at 4:08 p.m. Friday and is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes—she has past convictions for controlled substance delivery, burglary, and grand theft, and anyone with information should call 911. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ U.S. Senators Jim Risch and Rand Paul introduced the Federal Reserve Transparency Act—legislation that will require a GAO audit of the Fed’s operations and a report to Congress within 90 days of audit completion—to improve oversight of the central bank. KBOI
- ➤ Governor Little signed Executive Order 2025-05 today to balance the budget and support public schools. The order tells state agencies to streamline services and cut spending by 3%—it will take effect in fiscal year 2026 and does not include K-12 schools. Local News 8
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare issued health advisories for Lake Lowell in Canyon County and the Van Wyck Boat Ramp on Lake Cascade due to harmful algal blooms, and residents are urged to avoid any contact with the water to prevent illness. KBOI
- ➤ Eastern Idaho Public Health reported a second measles case in an unvaccinated Bonneville County child — the first measles case in an Idaho resident from Eastern Idaho since 1991 — and is monitoring contacts while urging residents to check their vaccination records. KBOI
