EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At a Monday meeting, the West Ada School District board named the new elementary school Independence Elementary in Star to help ease overcrowding. The $20 million facility will serve 700 students — portable buildings have also been approved for Star Elementary after enrollment exceeded expectations. KBOI

- ➤ City officials in Meridian postponed the In‑N‑Out Burger permit decision until September due to paperwork issues as the chain appeals its earlier permit denial over traffic and noise concerns — the burger chain plans a drive‑through on a 2.22-acre site at Ten Mile Road and Chinden Boulevard while residents express mixed views on the proposal. - ➤ The Boise County Sheriff's Office issued a Level 3 Go evacuation order for Lower Robie, Flowing Springs, and Burnett Lane due to the Robie Fire, which expanded to 50 acres — a Level 2 Set warning remains for Wilderness Ranch with evacuees advised to use Clear Creek instead of the blocked Robie Creek.
