BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Spirit Halloween plans to open eight pop-up stores in Idaho this year, including two in Boise at 3275 S Federal Way and 8033 W Franklin Road. The Boise Franklin Road store will open at 2 p.m. on August 6 and will collect donations to support the Child Life Department at St. Luke's Children's Hospital—helping to ease kids’ hospital stays. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two adults and one juvenile were arrested Saturday night in Boise after an alleged burglary and beating of a store employee—shots were fired at the assailants. Idaho Press

- ➤ The Western Idaho Fair returns to Expo Idaho, offering good old-fashioned fun—enjoyed since 1897—to bring families together in Treasure Valley. Idaho Press
- ➤ The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic will begin on August 27 with CapEd Kids' Day at 7:00 a.m. at the launch field where kids learn about balloons, and Thursday will be media day at Ann Morrison Park. On Friday, a 7:20 a.m. flight and a 7:30 p.m. Nite Glow with food, vendors and live music are planned — Saturday and Sunday may have morning flights if the weather holds. KBOI

- ➤ Farmer's Almanac predicts that Idaho's major cities will see their first frost later this fall+with Moscow excluded due to year-round risk. Gardeners may plan ahead+as the summer's milder temperatures have resulted in fewer triple-digit days than last summer. KIDO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho Transportation Department is planning to replace the 1933-built Rainbow Bridge on Hwy 55 across the North Fork of the Payette River and has extended the comment period until August 10 to seek input on design and environmental issues. ITD collected feedback at the Valley County Fair on July 7 and 8 — the project aims to address problems such as narrow lanes and limited sight distance. KBOI

- ➤ Freeze-dried fruit boxes sold at Sam’s Club have been recalled after possible listeria contamination — shoppers are urged to check their products. Toyota has issued a separate recall affecting several models in Idaho — drivers should verify if their vehicles are included. KIDO
