ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters battled the Victory fire that burned 917 acres south of Kuna near Swan Falls Road and reinforced containment lines after the blaze was reported contained at 8 p.m. on August 2, with full control expected on August 3—officials are investigating a human-related cause. KBOI
- ➤ Highway 55 is closed between Avimor and Horseshoe Bend Hill Summit because of a serious accident, according to the Boise County Sheriff's Office—motorists should seek alternate routes as authorities have not set a reopening time. KBOI
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Alaska Airlines will launch a new seasonal flight from San Diego to Sun Valley on December 18th and a year-round flight from Boise to Ontario starting in January. The new routes mark a further expansion of the airline’s service in our area — the planes are built without middle seats. KIDO
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Boise police arrested three suspects after a reported shooting and violent altercation at a business on the 6300 block of West Fairview Avenue at 9:30 p.m. Saturday—when suspect Bailey Geesey stole alcohol and punched an employee who then used a firearm in self-defense that injured one suspect and forced the others to flee, with all suspects now in custody. - ➤ Bryan Kohberger, the convicted murderer who killed four University of Idaho students, was sentenced to life and is now booked in a facility near Kuna while a new photo taken on the night of his arrest was released alongside body cam footage from an earlier traffic stop — officials say these details come as part of a recent public release of case documents.
