ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Idaho Transportation Department reported that the deadliest hour on Idaho roads is Saturday afternoon from 4:00 to 5:00—when drivers rush home and many use phones or fail to buckle up. The data shows a rise from 88 to 94 deaths compared to last year, and law enforcement advises staying off phones, wearing seatbelts, and following speed limits.  KIDO

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Driftwood Fry House at The Warehouse Food Hall closed permanently, leaving space for a new vendor called Just Chicken based on signage in the venue.  KIDO
  • Ford is recalling over 850,000 vehicles including F-150s, Broncos and Explorers built from 2021 through 2023 because a fuel-pump issue may stall engines while you drive. Recalls from GM, Toyota and Kia also affect drivers in Idaho—local owners should contact their dealerships to check if their vehicles are affected.  KIDO

  • A Coeur d'Alene firefighter hurt in a shooting ambush that killed two battalion chiefs was moved Tuesday to a specialty hospital in Colorado—he now faces a long road to recovery.  KBOI

  • Painting with a Twist opened a new studio in Boise last March to give locals a creative space to try art classes and craft workshops. The studio, owned by Heather and Levi Schoonover, offers paint and sip sessions, Mommy and me classes, kids' sessions, and local beer & wine to enjoy during events.  KBOI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Boise posted photos of large wasps that some thought were murder hornets; however, experts confirmed the insects are native cicada killer wasps (which paralyze cicadas for their nests) and are not aggressive unless disturbed.  KIDO

FINANCE NEWS

  • Idaho Lottery officials presented dividend checks at the College of Western Idaho on Tuesday—marking its 36th year—as the $75M payout was the third-largest total in lottery history and will fund improvements to public facilities.  Idaho Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Boise City Council approved the Boise Open Space Levy for the November election ballot to let voters decide on using tax dollars to buy foothill properties and support clean air and water. The measure will preserve park lands as the city grows — a step that continues local conservation efforts.  KBOI
