CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Lance Dunlap of Meridian was arrested after he allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at occupants of another vehicle on I-84 on July 8 just after 4:00 p.m.—officers later located his vehicle at milepost 74 and recovered the loaded gun. KBOI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Boise School District leaders Lisa Roberts and Dave Wagers said teachers may display the 'Everyone is Welcome Here' banners in their classrooms despite State Department guidance—House Bill 41 went into effect July 1 and IDE has broad definitions of banners that raise questions about other displays. They explained that the memo provides guidance to help staff create a safe and welcoming environment for all students. KBOI

- ➤ On Tuesday, the Boise City Council adopted an ordinance that encourages greenbelt users to control their speed—those who do not may face consequences. Idaho Press
- ➤ Meridian City Council postponed a vote on the proposed public safety levy during Tuesday's meeting — the decision is now set to be made at the end of July. Idaho Press
- ➤ The Idaho state government is testing artificial intelligence as the Division of Human Resources begins using chatbots to answer residents' questions & early reports show the new program has basic flaws. Governor Little has not yet said if the state will fully adopt the new system. KIDO

- ➤ Idahoans have a simple freezer hack that uses (a quarter placed atop a frozen mug of water) to check if food in the freezer is still safe after a power outage. The method helps households decide whether to keep or toss food when storms or planned power shutdowns occur to reduce wildfire risk. KIDO
