CRIME NEWS

  • Judge Steven Hippler ruled on June 26th that there will be no delay in Brian Kohberger’s trial for the murder of four University of Idaho students — the trial is slated to begin on August 11th in Ada County with opening statements following on August 18th.  KIDO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Fish and Game euthanized an adult male grizzly on June 26 after it became food-conditioned by accessing unsecured garbage in an Island Park neighborhood; officials advise residents to secure attractants (using bear-resistant containers or indoor storage) to protect both people and wildlife.  KBOI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Boise Police Union accused the City of Boise of using bad faith tactics in year-long labor negotiations, claiming that the council-approved proposal violates ground rules agreed upon last May and strong-arms members into a bad deal. The City said it negotiated in good faith while facing tight budget limits and planning to add six detectives—steps it says support public safety amid a challenging Fiscal Year 2026 process.  KBOI

  • Summer has arrived and Boise residents are heading to the Boise River to enjoy the annual float season—essential gear like life jackets and dry bags is recommended for a fun, safe day. Many are preparing now to take full advantage of this popular way to cool off during the hot season.  KIDO

  • Ashton Jeanty, drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders, returned to Boise today to host a youth football camp at Bishop Kelly that marked the close of his Boise State career as he begins his NFL journey. Local kids enjoyed his return and saw him perform a backflip + celebrate his college legacy.  KIDO
  • Boise’s professional soccer team will unveil its new club identity, brand and crest tonight at Expo Idaho, drawing over 3,000 fans. The team will join the United Soccer League Men’s League One in March 2026 and Women’s Division One in 2027, with matches held in a new 6,000-seat stadium under construction — reflecting growing local support for soccer.  KBOI
