COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Idaho’s largest farm sanctuary in Kuna lost income after a permit process forced founder Dominique Delobbe to stop public tours that funded care for over 130 animals. A hearing on the variance was held on June 11th at 6:00 p.m.—it was open to the public as Delobbe seeks approval to resume limited tours and build a new horse barn. KBOI
- ➤ Meridian Dairy Days returns to Story Park from June 16 to 21 for its 96th year of celebrating local agriculture under the 'Barnyard Bash' theme. The festival will include a memorial golf tournament on Monday, a dairy princess pageant on Wednesday, carnival rides and food vendors on Thursday and Friday, and a hot air balloon launch on Saturday—proceeds will fund scholarships for Treasure Valley 4-H and FFA students. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Benjamin Hayden turned himself in on June 9 after breaking into a locked facility on June 3 where he tried to steal over $7,000 in equipment + clothing and was booked on felony burglary and grand theft charges. KBOI
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Vangie Osborn is restoring old neon signs from Boise businesses and set up an outdoor gallery called Neon Grove on Grove Street — between 12th and 13th Streets. She said the work brings back memories for locals and she plans to restore more signs to preserve the city’s history. KBOI
- ➤ RedWest Music Festival—announced just hours from Boise—will host a three-day country music fest in Salt Lake City with Post Malone set to perform and local fans expected to drive in for the event. KIDO
- ➤ Pocatello and Lewiston were named on America's Friendliest Cities list, adding to Boise being highlighted for its safe living and appeal to young people and retirees— a recent survey shows that residents value friendliness even as national rankings place Idaho lower overall. KIDO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Police have released a guide of 18 busy roads in the Treasure Valley that are known as speed traps—drivers who exceed the limit by more than five miles per hour on these streets may be pulled over. The list was put together using public feedback to help drivers avoid tickets. KIDO
- ➤ Boise Parks and Rec has launched a free mobile app that lets residents register for activities, book tickets, and manage their accounts in one place; the app links to an existing RecTrac account and is available on the App Store + Google Play. KBOI
