GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Idaho officials announced that no executions will take place for the rest of the year as the department begins retrofitting F-block at the Maximum Security Institution in Kuna - the conversion to firing squad execution is scheduled for completion by July 2026. KIDO
- ➤ The City of Boise says downtown parking meters are being updated with uniform rates and extended enforcement hours—dividing the area into three zones with the first 20 minutes free during enforcement. Some four‐hour meters are changing into two‐hour meters and multiple permits will be available for all‐day parking—aimed at easing short‐term parking demand. KBOI
- ➤ The Idaho Department of Correction paused all executions and is building a firing squad chamber — officials have not given a timeline for when executions will resume. Idaho Press
- ➤ The new Station 55 for the Star Fire Protection District remains empty because a $2,225,000 levy did not hit the 66.67% mark needed to pass. The district reported over 1,600 emergency calls in 2024 and will try the measure again in the next election—services will continue but response times may be longer. KBOI
