CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Award-winning comedian Jim Gaffigan (known for his hit Hulu special The Skinny) will perform at ExtraMile Arena on June 11 in Boise; tickets are available online. He joins other top comics in a busy summer lineup. KIDO
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wildlife biologists in Payette National Forest set up game cameras and collected DNA last fall to study elusive wolverines in the snowy backcountry — tracking their population using winter fieldwork and recent data shows nine different animals over two years. KBOI
- ➤ The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for Memorial Day as gusty winds and warm, dry conditions raise the fire risk today. Winds are forecast to sweep into the region ahead of an incoming cold front. KBOI
- ➤ Idaho Rivers United released a report card on May 22 showing that the Boise River is thriving in many areas. The report highlights the river's condition and supports local conservation efforts. Idaho Press
- ➤ A wildfire in Stanley was reported today at 3:22 p.m. in the 100 block of Fisher Creek Loop (estimated at 2 acres) and has prompted evacuations for nearby homes as crews work to contain remaining hotspots. KBOI
