COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The City of Boise and CCDC leaders will cut the ribbon on Thursday, May 28 at 10:15 a.m. at the parking lot off 3rd and Grove to open the 0.35-mile, ADA-accessible car-free Grove Street Pathway linking east Boise neighborhoods to downtown; visitors can walk & roll along the new route.  KBOI
  • Treasure Valley families helped install a bronze statue at Dry Creek Cemetery in Eagle — a memorial created after the loss of children to offer a place for grieving families.  Idaho Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Zoo Boise opened its new education center Thursday to boost interactive learning for visitors and improve animal care.  Idaho Press
  • Topgolf is launching a summer camp for kids ages 6 to 12 in Boise, offering golf instruction, game play and fun activities Monday through Friday. The camp runs from June 1st through July 20th for $225, featuring certified instructors + a low student/instructor ratio.  KIDO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Float the Boise agencies warned that the river remains unsafe due to high flows and debris, so the float season is not opening today; officials will announce an official start when hazard mitigation is complete — alternative water activities are available at local splash pads and parks for the holiday weekend.  KBOI
  • Idaho Rivers United enlists local volunteers to clean trash and test water quality along the Boise River as part of its Boise River Stewards program. The group works year-round to keep the river safe for summer recreation.  KBOI
  • State data show Idaho's snowpack is near-record low, ranking the drought 8th worst in 25 years. Boise and Payette reservoirs are full + officials warn that water supply and fire concerns may grow this summer.  KBOI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho State Police are stepping up patrols on Highway 55 today through the weekend — from Avimor to New Meadows — to address speeding and aggressive driving on this busy route. They urge drivers to slow down, use caution near work zones and plan ahead for emergencies in areas with limited cell service.  KBOI
  • On Thursday, May 21, the Idaho Lottery unveiled its limited-edition America250 in Idaho Scratch Game to honor America’s semiquincentennial. The star-spangled game offers prizes of $25 and $250 plus two top prizes of $25,000 and is available at lottery retail locations.  KBOI
  • Governor Brad Little celebrated a successful trade mission to Japan as Idaho representatives met with companies in semiconductor, artificial intelligence, food tech, aerospace, and logistics from April 21 to 25. He is expected to lead another mission this fall to boost investments and create jobs for local families.  Local News 8

  • Starting in August, St. Luke's will move all midwifery services to its Nampa location so patients in Meridian must transfer their care or switch to an OB-GYN; the health system will boost OB staffing in Meridian to improve 24/7 coverage.  KBOI
