BUSINESS NEWS

  • UPS announced that it will lay off more than 20,000 workers in Idaho, Washington and Utah and close 73 locations by the end of June, and the company has a deal to add 30,000 jobs (via a Teamsters agreement).  KIDO

ECONOMY NEWS

  • US Bank will close 320 branches nationwide in 2025, including eight in Idaho — as mobile banking growth reduces the need for physical branches. Among the Idaho closures, three are in Boise — customers are advised to check for mobile banking or nearby branch options.  KIDO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Boise teachers and staff have warned parents about a dangerous social media trend that involves inserting metal objects into USB ports on school devices — the prank may damage equipment and start a fire, although no incidents have been confirmed so far. Educators urge parents to talk with their children about the serious risks.  KIDO

HEALTH NEWS

  • A widespread illness causing body aches, chronic coughing and sore throat affected children in UT, WA and Idaho, with a 9-year-old treated Monday afternoon at a local emergency room—health officials prescribed albuterol, azithromycin and dexamethasone while they continued to investigate the cause.  KIDO
