  • Veterans Memorial Park is getting a $660K upgrade today with an 18-hole disc golf course, a nature playground, and improved safety features after years of community demand.  Idaho Press

  • Domino's will honor Idaho's viral Dan the Pizza Man when customers order online between April 30 and May 3 by offering a free 20 oz Coca-Cola with the code 'DANTHEMAN' — a nod to a local act of extra service.  KIDO
  • Cadence Kitchen opened last week in Garden City. Fine dining chef Julian Ramirez runs the shop that serves a range of sandwiches, salads, wraps, soups, and a Mediterranean Eggplant option for vegetarians.  KIDO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Boise Bicycle Project returns its teen apprenticeship to train local teens in bike repair + customer service through hands-on lessons in a real shop setting. The five-week program will run in summer with sessions from May 26 to June 26 and from July 7 to August 6.  KBOI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On April 22, the NWS Boise reported 3.83 inches of rain that broke the 1912 record, and higher elevations received at least 7 inches of snow at Bogus Basin.  KBOI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Parma Rural Fire Protection District is introducing an override levy to keep firefighters competitive and ensure 24/7 emergency services. The community will vote on the measure on May 19 at Parma LDS Church — 307 E. Andrew's.  KBOI
  • Governor Brad Little lost teachers’ union support after signing a controversial bill earlier this month and faced a vote of no confidence as union leaders expressed deep frustration + concern over his policy move.  Idaho Press
