COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A handmade quilt honoring Kaylee Goncalves is now on display at The Quilt Crossing in Treasure Valley to comfort her family. More than a dozen quilters from Idaho and other states stitched remembrance squares (echoing a vibrant dahlia created in her memory) and will present the quilt on May 9.  Local News 8
  • Eagle firefighters rescued a cow that fell into an irrigation box at a local ranch on Wednesday, April 16. Crews built a mechanical advantage system to free the animal + show their skill.  KBOI

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Busch Light Apple beer, known as 'Bapple,' will return to Idaho stores before the end of April (retailers include Tobacco Connection and Albertsons) with limited supplies available.  KIDO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The State Board approved Boise State's ten-year master plan that projects a 9% rise in undergraduate and 11% rise in graduate enrollment over the next decade + the plan will guide future campus growth.  Idaho Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Boise teens are invited to a town hall with Council Pro Tem Kathy Corless (District 3) on Tuesday, April 21 at 6 p.m. at Congregation Ahavath Beth Israel at 11 N. Latah St.  KBOI
  • The Idaho Transportation Department will recognize National Work Zone Awareness Week from April 20 to 24 with a 'Safe Actions Save Lives' theme to encourage safe driving near work zones after recording 904 crashes (including nine fatalities) in 2024. A new video series will share real work zone stories.  KBOI
  • The Idaho DMV released the America 250 license plate yesterday to honor the United States semiquincentennial. Customers could obtain the plate at county DMV offices or online and personalize it for an extra fee (the fee supports the State Historical Society).  KBOI

  • Boise sports fans can watch the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs this weekend at local bars, restaurants, and breweries that offer a festive environment for cheering on teams (the guide covers popular downtown venues and dog-friendly patios).  KIDO
