  • Boise Farmers Market season will begin on April 5th and run every Saturday until October from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. — a new opportunity for local shopping at 1500 Shoreline Drive in Downtown Boise. Local vendors will offer fresh produce, breads, pastries, and ready-to-eat foods — shoppers may also order online for drive-thru pickup on Saturdays.  KIDO

  • A gravel truck driver who fatally struck a Boise teenager in 2022 has been sentenced to jail.  Idaho Press
  • An Idaho man named Christopher Talbot, aged 70, was arrested after intentionally striking a counterprotester with his car outside a Tesla dealership on Franklin road in Meridian—police said the victim had parked and exited his truck before being hit and was treated for nonserious injuries—leading to charges for violent conduct.  KIDO

  • At Treefort Music Fest, Sofi Tukker drew a huge crowd at Julia Davis Park and broke an attendance record—Ed Sheeran and J. Balvin hung out with them after the show before they flew to New York.  KIDO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Ada County Highway District Board formally censured Commissioner Kent Goldthorpe for inflammatory and racially charged language in his Facebook post and interviews that breached the district’s Code of Ethics. The unanimous 4-0 vote stressed that his comments did not represent the board’s official views.  KBOI
  • Local business owners selling glass pipes and smoke accessories for tobacco use report frustration as Boise Police now classify these items under Idaho’s controlled substances law — police are reviewing roughly 55 stores and giving them a timeline to remove the products under a compliance review.  KBOI
  • The Senate approved the higher ed budget Tuesday evening, cutting $4 million from Boise State and University of Idaho — a decision passed with reluctant support from lawmakers.  Idaho Press
  • The city of Boise announced a public hearing on an amendment to change the appeals process for city commissions—following the denial of an Interfaith Sanctuary relocation—that will allow residents to offer testimony on the proposed changes.  Idaho Press
