CRIME NEWS

  • The FBI warned Idaho Gmail and Outlook users about a threat — ransomware called Medusa — that could hit accounts through phishing and software flaws; experts advise using strong passwords and multifactor authentication to protect your data.  KIDO
  • Idaho State Police said a 17-year-old motorcyclist from Boise fled a traffic stop on Tuesday near Fairview Avenue at about 75 mph in a 25 mph zone, crashed shortly after, and was booked into juvenile detention for reckless driving and eluding law enforcement — the ISP urged riders to drive responsibly.  KBOI

CULTURE NEWS

  • Aaron Paul appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and was named the Pride of Idaho — he spoke about his time at Centennial High School and working at Pizza Hut while also promoting his new movie Ash. The film will open in theaters tomorrow.  KIDO
  • An article lists 17 fairs and festivals in the Boise area set for 2025 so locals can plan their summer trips—some events now have new dates that differ from past years. The roundup shows major celebrations in Treasure Valley that promise to draw large crowds.  KIDO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho legislators set aside $9.6 million for repairs at the ITD Boise campus to improve building safety and conditions. Lawmakers said the funds only cover part of the repairs — additional funding will be needed as projects progress.  Idaho Press
  • Governor Brad Little signed Senate Bill 1101 on Tuesday that clarifies the duties of Idaho coroners during death investigations—this law was introduced after a watchdog report found low autopsy rates in homicide and child death cases and will standardize how coroners work with law enforcement. The law takes effect on July 1.  Local News 8
  • The Social Security Administration will require people to verify their identity in person after a two-week transition period ending March 31—this new rule is meant to protect records from fraud while some rural recipients may face extra travel challenges.  KIDO

  • Local bereavement specialists gathered in Idaho to discuss support for families facing stillbirths and miscarriages, noting that one in every 200 births ends in stillbirth—over 100 losses occur each year.
