CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, March 15th, Boise Police received two calls as neighbors panicked over gunshots near Five Mile and Ustick and soon arrested suspect Joshua Pereira—whose vehicle showed bullet holes—on charges of unlawful discharge and driving under the influence. KIDO
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Zoo Boise announced it will complete a new red panda exhibit with outdoor yards, indoor space, climbing structures, and an overhead walkway to open late spring for more red pandas. The zoo is asking donors to help fund the project while keeping local favorites Jasper and Stevie on display. KIDO
- ➤ Treefort Music Fest 2025 will run from March 26 through March 30 in downtown Boise and is expected to draw nearly 50,000 fans with over 400 bands performing. The festival will offer themed forts—like Alefort, Hackfort, Comedyfort and Foodfort—that provide free and ticketed experiences with a flexible pass system. This Is Boise

- ➤ The Idaho Transportation Department warns residents to ignore text messages demanding payment for toll violations—there are no toll roads and recipients should not click on links or share personal information. Residents are advised to report these messages to their mobile carriers. KIDO
- ➤ A Senate committee in Boise advanced a bill on Tuesday that would restrict SNAP benefits from buying candy and soda — the measure now heads to the full Senate. Idaho Press
- ➤ On Monday, the Idaho House passed a bill that would let courts give the death penalty to adults who sexually abuse children 12 and younger. Sponsored by Rep. Bruce Skaug, the bill changes the law’s definition of aggravated rape—imposing a minimum 30-year sentence or the death penalty for offenders—and now moves to the Senate for review. Local News 8
- ➤ Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed into law an expanded grocery tax credit—designed to offset the sales tax Idahoans pay on food. Idaho Press
- ➤ American flags vandalized last week on the Cloverdale Overpass were officially retired in a ceremony Tuesday morning. The Idaho Transportation Department — along with American Legion Post 201 — decommissioned the flags that once honored three airmen killed in a 2018 crash as police seek clues about the spraypaint damage. - ➤ On Tuesday, state budget writers approved seven full-time employees for the Idaho Tax Commission to help manage increased work from the new school choice tax credit. Idaho Press
