BUSINESS NEWS

  • Culinary Dropout, a popular American restaurant from Austin, will soon open at the Village at Meridian offering outdoor dining and live music for dates, family dinners, and nights out. The move is part of a broader expansion that adds several new stores to the retail complex.  KIDO
  • Max and Louie's Cafe (known for its viral canned coffees) is open on the Boise Greenbelt in Garden City and serves ricotta lemon pancakes. The menu caters to everyone including vegetarians, vegans, and those avoiding gluten and dairy.  KIDO
  • Rancher Hat Bar has opened at The Village at Meridian, where visitors can design cowgirl hats, bandana necklaces, and trucker hats. The new shop offers a fun stop for families and friends getting ready for the upcoming country concert season.  KIDO

CULTURE NEWS

  • Comedian Patrick Warburton, known for his role as David Puddy on Seinfeld, performed his sold-out standup show at The Egyptian Theatre on Friday, Feb. 27 and was seen at Table Rock on Monday, March 2.  KIDO
  • A new ranking shows Idaho is 42nd among 50 states for women as it scores 43 for economic & social well-being and 30 for health care & safety, even though many local women report enjoying life here.  KIDO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Boise State University will merge its College of Education and School of Public Service effective July 1 and close the College of Innovation and Design in response to a 3% budget cut; students in current programs will remain on track for graduation with more details to follow.  KBOI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Boise is offering a $10 yearly parking permit for zero-emission vehicles that lets qualified drivers park in downtown metered zones. The permit limits parking to two hours in Zones 1 and 2 and four hours in Zone 3, and vehicles must be moved when time expires.  KIDO
  • The Idaho State Police announced today that K-9 Kimber, an explosive detection dog from the State Capitol unit, has retired after a cancer diagnosis. Kimber served faithfully and her work will be remembered.  Idaho Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Boise State’s future conference games will include matchups against Gonzaga (a small local private school gaining national attention) as a new documentary on the Zags is set to drop on Tubi Friday, Mar. 6.  KIDO
  • The Boise Hawks will hold their seasonal job fair on Saturday, April 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at Memorial Stadium to fill game-day roles for the upcoming season. Applicants aged at least 15 must bring two forms of ID for on-site interviews.  KBOI
