COMMUNITY NEWS

  • After more than five years of planning, Interfaith Sanctuary received a certificate of occupancy for its new 42,500 sqft shelter home at 4306 W. State St., allowing the organization to move guests into the integrated facility designed for 24+7 support. Minor finishing touches remain before full operation begins.  KBOI
  • Boise firefighters rescued a cat that climbed into the dash of a parked car on Saturday, Feb. 28. Officials say the kitty was freed without harm + remind residents to check their vehicles if they hear unusual sounds when parked outdoors.  KIDO

BUSINESS NEWS

  • On Thursday, Feb. 26, The Village at Meridian announced that three new retailers and a restaurant will join its expansion near Eagle Road (bringing fresh shops, dining, and gathering spaces to the outdoor mall in 2026).  KIDO
  • Permits filed with the City show Boise Towne Square Mall could soon welcome new tenants as Downeast + Jurassic Burger may replace two long-time stores.  KIDO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Caldwell School Board approved Jeremy 'Scot' Montoya (sole finalist) for superintendent of the Caldwell School District on Feb. 27. Montoya, currently principal at Mountain View High School in West Ada, will begin contract negotiations soon.  KBOI
  • Boise State Listens allowed students to share their values during a campus event at Boise State University. The neutral forum hosted by the Institute for Advancing American Values gave speakers a chance to discuss topics like family and personal growth.  KBOI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Sawtooth Avalanche Center said over 100 avalanches took place near Frenchman Creek and the Salmon River yesterday and that wind drifts make slopes more likely to slide. Backcountry travelers are urged to check safety updates before heading out.  KBOI
  • A survey by the NRCS shows that Bogus Basin in Boise recorded its lowest snowfall measurement in more than 80 years on January 1 with snow depths at 30 inches upper and 28 inches lower.  KBOI
  • Idaho Fish and Game will stock 110,000 catchable rainbow trout in lakes and ponds in March. Anglers need a fishing license, and many sites are set up for easy family fishing with extra park and dock amenities + convenient mobile license purchases.  KBOI

  • Bogus Basin began a 10-day season pass sale on Friday, Feb. 27, offering pass prices the same as last season with free lift tickets for select passes. The mountain also announced new operating hours, with lifts starting at 9 a.m. and night closures at 9 p.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. on weekends.  KBOI
