- ➤ Boise officials designated Betty the Washerwoman as a historic landmark on Vista Avenue to honor a cherished local icon (residents often recall her familiar presence). Idaho Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ West Ada School District officials David Reinhart and Miranda Carson presented a school boundary rezoning proposal to the board on Jan. 12. The district now plans to review the changes to address longstanding zoning challenges. Idaho Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Boise Fire Department is training at the Outlet Mall, which is set for demolition, this week to practice structure and airport fire response. The exercise helps ensure first responders are ready for emergencies. KIDO
- ➤ Idaho holds unclaimed money for residents on its official property site (yourmoney.idaho.gov). Residents who have moved or changed banks can search for old paychecks and bank accounts and follow secure prompts to claim funds by providing the required documentation. KIDO

- ➤ Idaho shoppers can still purchase foods containing Red Dye No. 3 until the FDA ban takes effect on Jan. 15, 2027 (some brands have updated their products while others continue offering the ingredient). KIDO

- ➤ Demarcus Lawrence, a Boise State alum and five-time Pro Bowler with the Seattle Seahawks, will forgo the 2026 Pro Bowl as he is set to play in the Super Bowl. The Pro Bowl is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3 in San Francisco. KIDO
