BUSINESS NEWS

  • A permit filing shows Pandora Karaoke plans to renovate the former Voice Box at 781 W Front St. to reopen as a karaoke bar downtown + details on an opening date are still pending.  KIDO

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Balcony in downtown Boise will host a Heated Rivalry Dance Party on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 9 pm to 2 am — featuring music from the hit show and curated edits of its iconic characters for a themed celebration of love.  KIDO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Fish and Game announced a plan to relocate 40 elk and remove 60 from a non-migratory herd on private land west of Emmett after the animals caused over $1M in crop damage. The removals will take place in spring and summer 2026 and provide meat to regional food banks.  KIDO
  • A weather inversion has blocked sunlight for about 14,000 Treasure Valley homes over the past few weeks. Idaho Power says up to 50 percent power fluctuations are normal, though some houses relying solely on solar power are now blacked out.  KIDO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Brad Little honored former Rep. Linden Bateman, who passed away recently, for his 15 years in the legislature and his role in establishing Idaho Day (March 4). Bateman served from 1977 to 1986 and again from 2010 to 2016, leaving a legacy of public service and integrity.  KBOI

HEALTH NEWS

  • At a public hearing today, Adam Schroeder from Ada County said the population of Norway and roof rats is rising and may soon spur a statewide plan to curb their spread (legislators are set to act).  Local News 8

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Coa Cantina, a fusion of Barbacoa and Sushi Shack, is set to open on Feb. 7 at Noon in Southeast Boise's Harris Ranch neighborhood—next to Sushi Shack and The STILL. The new restaurant will serve food daily from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.  KIDO
  • Bogus Basin will open its newly remodeled Pioneer Lodge today at 11 a.m. The updated venue will offer improved amenities for visitors.  Idaho Press

  • Boise's Ashton Jeanty (with the Las Vegas Raiders) was not named among the five nominees for Offensive Rookie of the Year today, sparking online debate on whether his performance deserved recognition.  KIDO
