- ➤ Zoo Boise announced that an 11-month-old female wolverine (Laura) from ZooMontana will be open for viewing by the end of January in a renovated habitat next to the carousel. The new space features climbing structures and cold-weather elements designed to mimic her natural environment. KBOI
- ➤ Boise's locally-owned bookstores offer unique reading experiences for all ages and help spark New Year's reading resolutions today. Hearts on Fire Books, a downtown romance-only store (first of its kind), recently opened to enrich the city's literary scene. KIDO

- ➤ Idaho drivers paid an average of $2.77 for regular gasoline today — two cents lower than last week and 27 cents less than a year ago. Local prices differ, with Boise at $2.81, Coeur d’Alene near $2.38 and Twin Falls at $2.95. KBOI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Boise School District Superintendent Lisa Roberts (33 years of service) announced her retirement effective June 30; the board will hold a public meeting on Jan. 21 to discuss hiring a replacement. KBOI

- ➤ The National Weather Service reported yesterday that a warm, wet start led to very low snowpack in lower to middle elevations while high elevations remain near normal. High pressure will bring clear skies & light winds on Tuesday. KBOI
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ McCain Foods USA Inc has recalled thousands of cases of frozen tater tots after plastic fragments were found in 40,000 packages distributed to 26 states, including a shipment to Idaho. Consumers with the product in their freezers should check their packages and avoid consuming the affected tots. KIDO

- ➤ Umai now serves sushi burritos in Boise as a new foodie trend; the restaurant offers options (California, Rainbow, vegetarian, and vegan) at its Boise and Meridian locations to give locals a fresh way to enjoy classic sushi flavors. KIDO
