ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire broke out early Tuesday at Nampa Municipal Airport, damaging two hangars when it started at Building 510 and was contained by 8:18 a.m.—no injuries occurred and officials are investigating the cause. KBOI
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Reality TV star Nic from Love Island will perform as part of his DJ tour at Treefort Music Hall on March 7. Fans are urged to secure tickets early (and his partner Olandria may join) for an exciting evening. KIDO
- ➤ This weekend, Boise hosts Disney Night at Indian Creek Plaza with themed skating and free skate rentals, a Polar Bear Challenge at Spring Shores Marina at 11 a.m. benefiting Make-A-Wish, Boise State men’s basketball at ExtraMile Arena at 7 p.m., and Tim Allen’s stand-up show at the Morrison Center. - ➤ The Bown House, built in 1879, has been preserved on Riverside Elementary School's campus in Southeast Boise and now serves as a museum where local students and visitors learn about the city’s frontier past. Public tours are offered regularly by community volunteers and the Boise School District. KBOI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Caldwell Police and Vallivue School District said there is no sign that a school locker room was under surveillance or that any staff member was terminated — officials stressed that the social media rumor was false. Parents and school leaders confirmed that no cameras were installed. KBOI
- ➤ Micron is building two new fabs and expanding its local apprenticeship program that lets students earn an associate degree while working full time. The program graduated its first cohort last year and will start a new group next month to support the company’s growth in tech. KBOI

- ➤ On Jan. 3, 2026, an ice fisher at Island Park Reservoir caught a 5-inch Yellow Perch that is not native to the water—Idaho Fish and Game confirmed the fish was illegally stocked and urged anglers to harvest any Yellow Perch to protect native trout. KBOI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ In December, following repeated welfare check requests before a 12-day-old newborn died in Nampa, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare defended its response by stating case workers followed protocol for a priority III case. Leaders said they will review procedures for potential improvements. KBOI
- ➤ ITD will close eastbound I-84 from Garrity (Exit 38) to Ten Mile (Exit 42) from Friday, Jan. 16 at 10 p.m. until Monday, Jan. 19 at 5 a.m. for flyover ramp installation; nightly lane restrictions will continue through March. KBOI
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Utah has launched an AI program to manage prescriptions for rural patients, and Idaho officials are exploring similar technology to improve access to care. The effort comes as the state faces rapid growth and a shortage of doctors. KIDO
- ➤ Yesterday, the Ada County Coroner's Office installed a state-of-the-art Postmortem CT scanner donated by St. Luke's Medical Center to improve determining causes of death and reduce invasive procedures. The new technology boosts efficiency and enhances technical capabilities in Boise. KBOI
