  • Mountain View Church of the Brethren seeks rezoning approval to convert its West Bench property at 2823 North Cole Road into a transitional education facility for up to 100 men to improve life skills and prevent homelessness; residents will pay $450+550 per month and complete community service.  KBOI

  • Several national retail chains plan to close stores in Idaho in 2026 due to rising costs & increased online shopping as companies adjust to economic challenges. Experts say these closures may mean fewer options for local shoppers used to visiting familiar shops.  KIDO

  • McCall Winter Carnival returns to its original 10-day format after two years and will run from Jan. 30 to Feb. 8 in McCall, offering food + crafts for local families.  Idaho Press

  • USDA grants are giving 158 Idaho schools free fresh fruit and vegetables through the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) for the 2025-2026 school year. The program targets districts with high free meal enrollments to boost healthy eating.  Local News 8

  • The Idaho Department of Health reported unusually high flu cases in southern Idaho yesterday, with at least 71 weekly positive lab tests and one related death, as figures steadily increased over the past six weeks.  KBOI

  • Six former Broncos from Boise State are in the NFL playoffs with teams such as the Bills, Broncos, Jaguars, Chargers and Seahawks. The Bills (facing the Jaguars in Wild Card Weekend) will clash as these alumni aim for a Super Bowl appearance.  KIDO
